Zero Liquid discharge systems consists of MEE and ATFD or MEE and Centrifuge.
Lower salt waste water stream is concentrated in MEE where 70to 75% volume reduction takes place. The output from evaporation plant is normally in the form of slurry which is at higher solid concentration. This slurry can be sent directly to ATFD (Agitated Thin Film Dryer ) for getting the dry solids or to the filtration system e.g. Centrifuge where you get wet solids and mother liquor can be recycled back to the MEE feed.
